Lot 23 1825 JU2 & JU7 Quebec datelines on three letters written on single sheet to Edward Hale,
Calcutta, India. Noted as received Nov 23. Two fine strikes the circular Quebec Paid Fleuron with
manuscript rates 1s Ccy & 18¾ US cents in centre. Carried to the care of Geo. Diblois & Co
Boston for onward carriage to India. Mentions in part: "The Burmese victory had not been heard
of in England when our last advice came away". Also mentions the illness of Lord Falkland who
was later Governor of Nova Scotia. A fine and rare family letter with much interesting content.

Lot 43 1858 AP13 Toronto CDS, struck high on front of neat cover to Hamilton AP14 B/S. Franked 3d
beaver medium wove paper, lightly grid tied. Very clear impression with 4 good margins but 3mm
scissor nick at right, just discernible. Fine.

Lot 500 Money Letter c.1826 undated entire outer lettersheet from Perth to York (the addressee HMR General John H
Dunn was in office at this time, interestingly he was born in St. Helena). Endorsed in manuscript
Cash Letter £122.5s. Very scarce straightline Perth in black on reverse. Rated 14s8d for 4ozs that
was a 16 times rate letter. The highest rated letter containing money I have seen. Some light aging
but very rare.

Lot 514 1893 JY25 Montreal CDS on 3c PSE uprated by ½c x 14 SQ's (block of 12 and a pair) all neatly
cancelled and tied to small Registered letter paying 10c rate to Para Brazil AU11 B/S. Via New
York JY27 B/S and where the Registered Exchange label was applied. A fine and rare cover.

(4 margins) pen cancel and oval grid tied. Via Chatham MY3, Petticodiac MY4 & Sackville MY4

Lot 1248 1897 DE9 St. John's CDS x 4 ties 1c QV Cabot, 1c QV red Royal Family and ½cx2 Newfoundland
Dog red both shades, to Halifax NS DE23 B/S. A couple of toned perfs but a very nice clean cover
with a scarce franking.

Lot 1403 1858 JY24 New Glasgow B/S on cover franked 6d yellow green SG5 and bisected 3d pale blue
SG4a both tied by oval grids on cover to Inverness Scotland AU9 B/S. Via Halifax JY26 B/S &
Liverpool AU8 front tombstone. Margins are complete but tiny piece out at top right. 1984 BPA
certificate and states both stamps have ironed out creases at top, impossible to see with naked eye.
Seal on reverse has been excised. Still a fine cover. Reserve same as estimate.

Lot 1419 1861 JA26 Paid Auckland New Zealand on cover to Prince Edward Island MY3 B/S. Via London
Paid AP18 CDS on front. Original rate from New Zealand was 11d, over-written in purple with
'6'd. (Sterling). Also '5' Accountancy mark also in manuscript purple and 1d Accountancy H/S
showing the apportionment of the 6d between GB and PEI. Very minor opening fault. Probably
carried by Allan's "Bohemian". Very rare item. Reserve same as estimate.
